CMO8 Adult PMP Oxygenator:
The CMO8
Engineered for ECMO – Designed for Confidence
CMO8 Flow Dynamics
Utilising a true counter current design for the blood/gas and blood/water pathway ensuring maximum gas exchange and heat exchange efficiency.
Venous blood moves down through the heat exchanger before transitioning up and through the gas exchanger. Oxygenated blood flows down to the arterial outlet.
Water travels up through the heat exchanger fibres in the opposite direction to the blood traveling down.
Gas travels down through the gas exchanger fibres in the opposite direction to the blood traveling up.

The Largest Gas Exchanger on the Market
%
More Gas Exchanger than competitors
At 2.47m², the CMO8 has 36% more gas exchanger fiber than its nearest competitor at 1.8m². That’s a 36% increase.
In addition to the extra large surface area, the gas exchanger fibers are orientated vertically to allow easy condensation blow off. Condensate is collected at the bottom of the device which is angled for easy removal.
Air Handling
Dual Bubble Traps
Designed to incorporate 2 bubble traps, one pre-membrane and one post-membrane, the CMO8 handles air emboli very effectively.
Optimised Angle
The CMO8 is intentionally held at a 5° angle to encourage entrained air to rise to the luer port situated at the top of the heat exchanger to allow quick and easy extraction.
Gravity Prime
From the initial stages of development, priming and deairing were considered at every design choice. A dedicated luer port was installed to allow gravity priming.
Innovative Holder
A new and innovative bracket has been designed to hold the CMO8. Leveraging state of the art manufacturing techniques to create a device traditionally very hard and time consuming to manufacture.
– Maintains the product at an optimised angle (5°) to aid air removal,
– Quick and easy insertion and removal of the device,
– Securely retains the device throughout use and during patient movement,
